Several members of Mothers in Charge took the stage with local journalists at the inaugural Better Gun Violence Reporting Summit. The national journalism convention focused on news coverage of community gun violence and convened at WHYY on November 8th.

Nearly 250 journalists, researchers, community representatives and other experts attended.

Mothers in Charge member Michelle Kerr-Spry participated in the session.

Mothers in Charge Renée McDonald also joined the conversation.

Mothers in Charge founder and national executive director Dr. Dorothy Johnson-Speight moderated the panel.

Trauma surgeons, nurses, medical students and other clinicians attended the all-day event, including this group from Temple University.

Local journalists on the panel included Cherri Gregg of KWY, Mensah Dean of The Philadlephia Inquirer and Christopher Norris of WHYY.
