For more than an hour, speakers took the stage and called on legislators to unite in cracking down on guns

Yet in the rally’s most somber moments, attendees watched – sometimes in near silence – as mother after mother told stories of burying their own children.

“This is difficult for each and every one of us to stand here,” said Dorothy Johnson-Speight, who founded Mothers in Charge, which now touts hundreds of members in Philadelphia.
