The mother of murdered police officer Moses Walker, Jr., led a peace walk through North Philadelphia Wednesday afternoon. Wayne Walker had already buried her first son after he was shot to death in 2001.
Officer Walker, a 19-year Philadelphia Police veteran, was shot and killed shortly after leaving work early Saturday morning, during an apparent robbery.
Marchers passed by his 22nd District police station, calling for an end to the shootings and for the community to turn in the killers.
Moses Walker was the fourth Philadlephia Police officer killed while off duty this year. He was also the third person shot to death in Philadelphia during the overnight leading into Saturday morning.
Investigators have released surveillance videos of possible suspects, and identified a man taken into custody Wednesday as a person of interest in the case.
Just as the march was approaching the scene of the crime, Walkers’s mother broke down and hugged loved ones, who then helped her to an awaiting car.
Officer Walker will be laid to rest after services Monday morning.
