National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims
The National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims on September 25th provides an opportunity to honor the memories of murder victims in the United States.
In 2015, 13,286 people were killed in the US by firearms, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
Mothers in Charge marked the day with a new podcast:
Dorothy Johnson-Speight, founder of Mothers In Charge and
Joy Keys, host of Saturday Mornings with Joy Keys.
Shira Goodman is the Executive Director of CeaseFirePA, Pennsylvania’s largest gun violence prevention organization which partners with mayors, police chiefs, faith leaders, community organizations and individual Pennsylvanians working together to take a stand against gun violence.
Latrina Kelly-James is currently Equal Justice USA’s (EJUSA) Grassroots Capacity Building Specialist providing capacity building and advocacy tools to community organizations working with young men of color and Black and Brown communities who’ve experienced victimization, with a goal of increasing equity within federal victim services.
